Success Story: Samira Bashir
Finding Opportunity Through the Women’s Safe Space
Samira Bashir 21 years young woman was introduced to the Women’s Safe Space by one of the programme facilitators. She was curious about the opportunity to learn new skills and improve her future, she joined the group. What began as a simple decision has become a life-changing journey toward personal growth and economic empowerment.
Building Skills for a Better Future
Through the Women’s Safe Space, Samira has acquired practical vocational skills, including shampoo production, fashion designing, beadwork, and makeup artistry. Beyond technical training, she has also gained valuable business knowledge that has strengthened her confidence to pursue entrepreneurship and become financially independent.
“The Women’s Safe Space has given me skills that I can use to build a better future for myself. I now believe I can create opportunities instead of waiting for them.”
Growing in Confidence and Resilience
The programme has transformed more than Samira’s livelihood prospects. She has developed important life skills, including emotional management, decision making, and problem solving. Through regular mentoring sessions, facilitators encouraged participants to build trusted support networks people they can rely on during difficult times to make informed and positive decisions.
These lessons have helped Samira become more confident, resilient, and prepared to face life’s challenges.
Economic Empowerment
Using the skills she acquired, Samira has started earning an income that enables her to meet some of her daily needs. She has also adopted a savings culture by participating in the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA), where she regularly saves part of her earnings to support her future business goals.
Although she has made significant progress, limited start-up capital remains her greatest challenge in expanding her business.
Looking Ahead
Samira dreams of establishing a thriving business producing shampoo, bath gel, and hair cream on a larger scale. She also hopes to package and brand her products professionally, allowing her to reach wider markets and create sustainable income for herself.
With continued support and access to start-up capital, she believes she can transform her small enterprise into a successful business that benefits both her family and her community.
A Message of Gratitude
“May God bless and reward this organization for changing our lives. May He give them the strength and resources to continue this important work so that more young women like me can have a brighter future.”
