Thematic Focus Areas
DRDI-DAG’s work is anchored in five interrelated thematic areas that address the root causes of conflict, inequality, poor governance, and systemic exclusion in Nigeria. These thematic areas guide our programming, partnerships, and advocacy across diverse communities and regions.
Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion
Peacebuilding and social cohesion are essential to building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies. DRDI-DAG advances this agenda by strengthening community resilience to conflict through dialogue, mediation, alternative dispute resolution, interfaith engagement, and locally led peacebuilding initiatives that foster trust, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence.
Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE)
Preventing and countering violent extremism requires resilient communities and inclusive institutions that can address the conditions that fuel radicalization and violence. We contribute through community-led prevention, strategic partnerships, and locally driven initiatives that strengthen resilience, promote positive alternatives to violence, and foster lasting peace.
Democracy and Governance
Democracy and governance thrive when citizens actively participate in public affairs and institutions are transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people they serve. We strengthen the relationship between citizens and institutions through civic engagement, policy dialogue, institutional strengthening, and initiatives that promote inclusive participation, public accountability, and responsive governance.
Human Rights, Gender Equality & Social Inclusion
Human rights, gender equality, and social inclusion are essential to ensuring that everyone can exercise their rights, participate equally, and contribute to the development of their communities. We advance this through initiatives that empower women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups while promoting equal opportunities, access to justice, and inclusive participation.
Fiscal Justice
Fiscal justice is essential to ensuring that public resources are raised, managed, and used transparently, equitably, and in the public interest. We contribute through tax justice advocacy, public financial management reforms, sustainable debt management, citizen engagement, and evidence-based policy dialogue that strengthen accountability, reinforce the social contract between citizens and government, and help ensure public resources deliver meaningful benefits for all.
GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
DRDI-DAG operates under a governance and organizational structure that promotes strategic leadership, accountability, transparency, and effective programme delivery. The organization combines independent governance oversight with professional management systems to ensure sound institutional performance, prudent financial management, and compliance with statutory and donor requirements.
DRDI-DAG operates through a clearly defined organizational structure with established reporting lines, delegated responsibilities, and functional coordination mechanisms that support effective decision making, accountability, and programme delivery.
